Job Description:
The Press Operator at Viking Label works to ensure the safe, accurate, and efficient manufacturing of printed labels on a flexographic printing press, to include performing production runs, daily press start-up, and shutdown. Primary responsibilities include monitoring label quality and press conditions and meeting safety, housekeeping, quality, scrap, and productivity quality standards.
Essential Job Functions:

Review job ticket and work with Press Assistants to ensure job is set up properly on the press per required specifications and job notes (ink, dies, stock, plates).

Assist in setting up job and changing over to next copy or job.
-
Run the job ticket per job specification and log data in the Label Traxx system.
-
While running the press, review printed rolls for quality and consistency related to all aspects of the labels including color registration and die cut.
-
Communicate with Shift Supervisor and/or Production Manager regarding any issues with the labels and dies.
-
Ensure proper data collection for each job, including job notes on material and time variance.
-
Perform basic troubleshooting of the press along with the Press Assistant and Supervisor.
-
Maintain the work area and machines in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed company policies and safety regulations.
-
Actively participate in continuous improvement activities and participate in training when offered or needed.

Follows all plant and corporate safety rules, procedures, and guidelines. Reports all safety concerns or issues to their immediate supervisor.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Summary:
Responsible for preparing, set-up and clean -up of jobs for printing presses to minimize downtime. Daily duties are prioritized by press schedule. The 2nd shift schedule is Monday through Thursday from 2:00 pm to 12:00 am.
Responsibilities:

Follows Viking press schedule and pulls all orders ahead of production schedule.
-
Set-up (including mixing ink) and cleaning of presses including machine components and cylinders.
-
Pulls correct tooling as documented on work Instructions.
-
Examines cylinders prior to mounting to ensure they are defect free and have good gears and bearings.
-
Ensures the proper cylinder is used (hard case, A-B-C) and cylinders are of the correct tooth size & correct undercut prior to use.
-
Checks plates for defects prior to mounting. Informs Production Supervisor and/or Pre-press department of the defect and works together to troubleshoot problem.
-
Mounts correct quantity and number of plates based off listed colors and guidelines for production.
-
Follows all plant and corporate safety rules, procedures, and guidelines. Reports all safety concerns or issues to their immediate supervisor

Responsible for working overtime when needed and as assigned

Ability to read and use ruler and understand fractions.

Routinely and safely lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs, 10-20 feet in distance regularly; 75 lbs+ occasionally (Key Assessment pre-employment testing is required)

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Position Summary:
Responsibilities include performing a wide range of tasks in the production area and general duties within the Pressroom, Kitting, Warehouse, Rewind, and Shipping departments. The 2nd shift schedule is Monday through Thursday from 2:00 pm to 12:00 am.
Responsibilities:

Must be able to competently perform multiple position functions that cross over between Pressroom, Kitting, Warehouse, Rewind, and Shipping.
-
Basic knowledge of general plant layout, item identification codes, basic knowledge of warehouse procedures and familiarity with the storage areas in order to be able to place or pull stock, signatures and materials in accordance with standard procedures.

Assisting Press Operator in the operation of printing presses and production of labels. Assist with press operation and changeovers. Minimize production losses during changeovers.

Assist Kitting dept with duties that may include: Set-up (including mixing ink) and cleaning of presses including machine components and cylinders; pulling correct tooling as documented on work instructions; examining cylinders prior to mounting to ensure they are defect free and have good gears and bearings; checks plates for defects prior to mounting; and mounts correct quantity and number of plates based off listed colors and guidelines for production.

Assist in plant maintenance operations including cleaning and preventative maintenance.

Comply with quality assurance specifications of the customer and Viking Label including but not limited to handling procedures, paperwork requirements, etc. Compliance with all data integrity, product safety, and ISO standards required.

Assist in cutting, collating, wrapping, stacking, and packaging of jobs

Using forklift or pallet jack to retrieve and place stock in the correct storage location, assuring accuracy of the quantity and location.

Perform job duties safely, following all Viking Label and Packaging rules and procedures and manufacturer recommendations for equipment operation.

Perform routine clean-up and organization as necessary.

Work overtime as needed.

Position Summary: Responsible for the operation of a rewind machine which is a piece of finishing equipment in our label printing plant. This position gets finished product labels ready to go to the customer by working them into the proper rolls, inspecting for quality and setting up for shipment. The 2nd shift schedule is Monday through Thursday from 2:00 pm to 12:00 am.
Responsibilities:

Setup and operate label inspector machines to include visual quality control while ensuring conformance to client quality specifications.

Ability to read job ticket carefully before running machine to ensure it is set up to customer and label needs

Input job order information into the computer; set specifications on the machine (measurement accuracy and attention to detail required)
-
Inspect and remove all defects, properly resplice the roll, stamp each role
-
Lift finished material onto the machine
-
View labels with assistance of strobe light
-
Comply with quality assurance specifications of the customer and Viking Label including but not limited to handling procedures, paperwork requirements, etc. Compliance with all data integrity, product safety, and ISO standards required.

Ensure quality of work to include color, size, die cut, perforations, print, and quantity of packaged items being shipped

Responsible for cleanliness of machinery and organization of the workspace; light maintenance of machinery may also be required

Assist in cutting, collating, wrapping, and packaging of converting jobs
